Critically-Acclaimed Online Game Welcomes New Players with Special Edition
including “New Frontiers”
FAIRFAX, VA – June 29, 2004 - Mythic Entertainment, developer and
publisher of the critically-acclaimed massively multiplayer online
role-playing game, “Dark Age of Camelot(R),” today released “Dark Age of
Camelot: Platinum Edition,” containing the original game and all four
expansion packs. The retail expansions, “Dark Age of Camelot: Shrouded
Isles(TM)” and “Dark Age of Camelot: Trials of Atlantis(TM),” as well as
free expansions, “Dark Age of Camelot: Foundations(TM),” and the recently
released “Dark Age of Camelot: New Frontiers(TM),” are included in the
"Platinum Edition," along with an introductory player’s guide, a one-month
free subscription to the game and a complimentary trial copy of the game
that players can give to a friend.
“The ‘Dark Age of Camelot’ experience keeps expanding, and new players can
delve right into the incredibly rich and varied gameplay with the
'Platinum Edition,'” said Mark Jacobs, president and CEO of Mythic
Entertainment. “Whether it is the lands of ‘Shrouded Isles,’ the ‘Trials
of Atlantis’ or the unique challenge of Realm vs. Realm combat which we
recently reinvented with the release of ‘New Frontiers,’ a world of
challenges awaits fans of role-playing games.”
“Dark Age of Camelot: Platinum Edition” is distributed by Vivendi
Universal Games in North America, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa,
and is available for a suggested retail price of $29.99.
About “Dark Age of Camelot: Platinum Edition”
"Platinum Edition" players will have access to the vast array of gameplay
options offered in “Shrouded Isles,” “Foundations,” “Trials of Atlantis,”
and “New Frontiers.” “Shrouded Isles,” “Dark Age of Camelot’s” first
expansion pack, extends the original game, and increases the action with
new character classes, races, continents, monster models and advanced AI,
weapons, and quests.
“Foundations” adds customizable real estate to Mythic’s online world by
enabling players and guilds to pick the neighborhood they want to live in,
choose the perfect lot, and then select a house style that fits their
taste and budget. Players can decorate the house’s interior and exterior,
and use the dwelling as a base for a home business. For higher level
characters, “Trials of Atlantis” offers a new world of challenges based on
the mysterious underwater world of Atlantis. Intense group play, three
all-new races, and amazing graphical upgrades throughout “Dark Age of
Camelot” await those that take on the Trials.
“Dark Age of Camelot’s” latest expansion, “New Frontiers,” reinvents the
unique Realm versus Realm combat system, Mythic’s take on Player vs.
Player (PvP) play. “New Frontiers” makes battles more accessible to
players, deepens the tactical possibilities and diversity of warfare
styles, and establishes a concrete rewards system for Realm vs. Realm
combat.
About “Dark Age of Camelot”
“Dark Age of Camelot(R)” is a next generation massively-multiplayer online
role-playing game, and features state-of-the-art 3D-accelerated graphics
with multiple class and race combinations, a robust trade skill system,
and the most comprehensive player Guild system in any MMORPG. The world of
“Dark Age of Camelot” features three Realms at war – Midgard, Hibernia and
Albion. Based on the mythologies of Viking-era Scandinavia, ancient
Ireland, and Arthurian Britain, respectively, the once-peaceful Realms
began to battle after the death of King Arthur. Players quest, fight
monsters, form guilds and eventually gain enough power to defend their
Realm from enemies.
Since its release, “Dark Age of Camelot” has received critical acclaim,
including Online Game of the Year by Computer Games Magazine and Computer
Gaming World, and PC Game of the Year by USA Today and MSNBC. With
climbing subscription numbers and unmatched customer support, “Dark Age of
