Rusty and I spent much of last week in Los Angeles at E3. While he went to lots of business meetings, I hung out in the NVIDIA booth showing our game off. It went great! The new GeForce 6800 card we were using performed amazingly well. I'm pretty shocked at what an improvement this new generation of cards can make.
It wasn't all work, though, as I had a few hours to check out the show. So here are some random thoughts on things I saw and played, though you should note that I'm mostly a console gamer:
The Great
Doom 3: I played this on Xbox and man, it was a blast. The game looked great and it was very intense. The environments I saw were very claustrophobic, lots of intricate floorplans with narrow spaces and little hallways going this way and that. It's a far cry from the original game's large chambers. There are fewer monsters, too, which is good -- each monster is more like a specific encounter rather than just a wave of cannon fodder. And the sound effects are amazing.
