Several ten thousands of you have raised your voice in this final stand of the now passed Year 2004. We received over 70,000 unique votes in the poll booth, and hereby present you the results. We were entirely surprised by the impact these awards had, and we have to apologize for being unprepared. This has been the first Battle of the Year for MM Hell, and we are not only certain that we will continue this event in 2005 but we will also ensure that it is getting the proper preparations. You can read more on how the Readers' Choice will be voted on in 2005 down at the end of this article but for now let's continue to the real thing and let me give you the winners of this Year!
Winner of it all, undoubtably, is Eve Online. Not only does Eve break the concurrent user record for a single realm (shard, server or however you might call it), these users also broke the voting record in our polls. Eve was nominated in three categories and has won them all by far, leading up to it being included in the final Best Massive Multiplayer Game of 2004 poll - which it also won by a fair margin.
The numbers speak for themselves: first, Eve won the Best Science-Fiction Award with a total of 7296 votes (53.11%), then it destroyed the competition in the Best Space Simulation Award with an unbelievable amount of 7849 votes, which were 93.62% of all votes in this category. To top it off, Eve's at that time unreleased free Expansion Pack "Exodus" ran for the top of the hill in the Most Anticipated Expansion category and won with 9082 votes (69.55%). Lastly, but most importantly, it won the rather short Best Massive Multiplayer Game Award with 519 votes (50.63%) beating Anarchy Online by just 178 votes, so we hereby declare Eve Online:

Best Space Simulation of 2004
Best Science-Fiction of 2004
Best Massive Multiplayer Game of 2004
Eve Online
Eve Online is under constant development, like all MMORPGs, but with the release of such a major free expansion the team at CCP has proven once more that Eve Online is worth every single buck you spend on it. If you're intrigued to give it a try, there is a free 14-Day trial available at all time without any hooks or small print. Check out our game profile of Eve Online and be sure to look through the official website thouroughly.
Congratulations to CCP, and the fans of Eve Online for boosting Eve up the stairs on all the categories it has been nominated in.
